29 April 2019 A question was raised at the AGM. What comprised the Capital Asset listed as Land for $4848? After reviewing documentation from the 50’s and 60’s as well as The Brief History of the GYC as written by Jack Doherty, I concluded the following: The $ 4848 for Land is comprised of, but not necessarily limited to, $2500 for the purchase of the majority of the current GYC property in 1953, additional small adjoining lots (1960’s) and the small lot at White Cloud Island (1962). Although this $4848 certainly under represents any current market value of our properties, one could bear in mind our title with the Canada Revenue Agency. The GYC is a non-profit corporation and thus assets are not appreciated or depreciated for accounting purposes. Essentially the prices at the time of purchase are represented by the amounts posted on the Capital Assets list. It perhaps is worth stating that the club’s assets are fully represented on the insurance policy for property. The most recent MPAC document lists the Club grounds at 2475 3rd Ave West Assessed in 2020 for $ 1,174,000 and White Cloud Island for $ 53,000. I hope this provides the answer. Important NOTE RE: 2019 PAYMENTS

CHEQUES: Recommend not placing your cheque in the mail at this point. Send me an email and I will then go down to the club and pick up your dropped off cheque. If you are too far out of Owen Sound, contact me, and we’ll talk!!

Yesterday a Postal picket line was up, I will check back later this week.

E-TRANSFERS: I have processed many of these payments but the bank places a maximum that can be done in a day and in a week. IF you are concerned that you have not had a timely indication of a successful deposit then fire off an email and I can let you know what the status is.

Many deposits were delayed until Nov 5 due to time required to work on the bookkeeping for month end, year end and Board meeting.  I will now be able to keep on top of them in a little more timely fashion.

The invoices for the 2019 Membership Year have been sent out.

Payments have been arriving daily and I will start making deposits on Nov 1st and emailing the receipts.

Due date is November 30th

Sat June 16 Sailpast Chicken feast was excellent!

This was all due to the experience and kindness of Mike and Anne. This was a typical example of how the club shares its talents and resources with one another.  So if you are new members, jump right in and be part of the energy of our great working club.

Thank-you to Anne and Mike’s family and club friends, Sue and Ron, who worked so diligently together. Hats off to you all!
