It is with great sadness that I share the news that Past Commodore Larry Langlois passed away January 7th, 2018.
Dr. Peter Lawrence (Larry) – Passed away peacefully on January 7th in Hamilton, Ontario, under the care of the dedicated staff at St Joseph’s Hospital. Larry’s life work touched the lives of so many and included safely bringing thousands of new babies into the world in Owen Sound, Ontario during his 40 year medical career. His many passions included sailing Georgian Bay, hunting in western Canada, entertaining friends and family and cheering on his beloved Owen Sound Attack hockey team. He is survived by partner Carole Wilson (Osborne), Sons Jeff Langlois (Tracy), Bob Langlois (Deb) and Pete Langlois (Krista), daughter Lisa Wilson (Bernie), grandchildren Danielle & Christopher, Taylor, Charlie & Will, Rylan & Emileigh and Nikole & Noah. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Silvia). Predeceased by daughter Michelle Clelland (Bill). Friends and family are welcome to come remember Larry on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 7-9p.m. and January 11, 2018 from 9-11 a.m. at DODSWORTH & BROWN ANCASTER CHAPEL (378 Wilson St. E). A celebration of life will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 11.a.m. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada are appreciated.

Brad Findlay of Chatsworth, and sponsored by Ed Griffith and John Griffith, was approved as an Associate member at the December 4, 2017 Board meeting. Brad plans to bring a 36 foot power boat into the club.

Gord Eyre of Balmy Beach, and sponsored by Paul Walker and Andy VanDolder, was approved as an Associate member at the December 4, 2017 Board meeting. Gord has a 24′ Boston Whaler.

Doug Dawson of Meaford, and sponsored by Mike Forcier and Lindsey Taylor, was approved as an Associate member at the September 5, 2017 Board meeting. Doug and his wife Brenda are moving to Owen Sound in the Spring. Doug has a Windy 9800 power boat. Doug has been involved in boating on a recreational and career basis since being born on the family marina. Doug and Brenda remain active in the boating industry (www.boatingwithdawsons.com and www.powerboatdocking.com).

Sad News – Associate Member Kenneth ROBINSON recently passed away.
ROBINSON, Kenneth Edward – Peacefully, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 in his 71st year. Ken, beloved husband of Nancy. Dear father of Heather (Jasen Robillard), Leanne (Dwayne), and Ian Robinson. Proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren. Dear brother of Shirley Whyte, and Dianne (Al Bye), and brother-in-law of David Atton (Mavis), Pat Armour (Jim), and Kim Robertson (Harry). A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, July 26th, 2017, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 865 2nd Ave West, Owen Sound, with Rev. Dana Benson officiating. Visiting and reception will take place immediately following the service. Memorial donations to the Parish Nurse of St. Andrews Church or the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation for the Oncology Department would be appreciated by the family.
