Club Emails

We use a program called MailPoet and its sending service to send mail to our members. Until recently all we had to do was add a new member and they were auto-magically subscribed. But it seems a recent change in MailPoet enforces “Sign-up confirmation” even though our members never sign-up.

This meant that several new members were in the unconfirmed state and weren’t yet receiving emails. I have now triggered (re)send confirmation email. Those new members will have received an email from the site and have to reply.

A reminder: All logged on members can view emails they may have missed by going to Members -> GYC Docs -> Archived Emails

New WordPress Version

Our website is built on the WordPress platform and a major new version of that software was installed today.

I backed up all of our code and data before the update and all looks good so far.

If you make a new post (remember, all members are authors and can do that) you will see that the editor is very different. But I’m finding it quite easy and intuitive. The classic editor is still there as a block you can drag into place.

Fuel Dock / Attendant Vacation

To all members: Please be advised that Josh Harlem our fuel dock attendant will be on vacation with his family July 27th through August 7th. During this period Rudy Hachey, Kurtis Mink and myself Harry Hartrick will try to man the fuel dock. I would ask anyone needing fuel to please take advantage prior to the 27th of July. The pump out will be available through out this period. Thank you to all members for your accommodation and understanding.

COVID Update / Patios

Hi Folks, as we enter stage three of this COVID thing your board of directors has decided to fully open up the patios (bbq’s included) and the upstairs of the clubhouse. The downstairs and kitchen will remain closed at this time while we renegotiate our cleaning contract.

“My GYC Profile”

I added a page to the members’ area of the website.
Log on and navigate to Members/My GYC Profile Details.
You (and only you) will see a page with all of your personal details.
If you see anything wrong with your name, address, phone number or email address you can follow the link “Edit My Profile” to correct them. There you can also add a short bio and an image.

Please pay particular attention to Committees I Serve On, and make sure it lists all the committees you chose to be on. This will assist the directors when they need to contact you.

The other sections, Mooring & Membership and Committees I Serve On, are maintained by the respective directors. Let them know if there are errors or omissions.

Bug Fix

I have fixed an annoying bug related to the pop-up windows: boat detail, member detail, and committee detail.
The pop-up remained open, in the background. If you viewed a second member, for example, the pop-up window was re-used but was hidden behind the main window.
Now the pop-up closes on lost focus. The next click on a detail link results in a new pop-up on top of the main window.
