THE OWEN SOUND FAMILY PHYSICIAN RECRUITING TEAM. CANCELLED.

This event has unfortunately been cancelled due to the predicted bad weather on Saturday.

On Saturday July 15 a few of our members will be taking 8-10 medical residents for a sail to showcase our beautiful area.

This is an opportunity for GYC to support healthcare in Grey Bruce and the purpose is to attract new physicians to our area. We have a few members who do not have a family physician and I know are in full support of this initiative.

The sailors plan to return to the club at around 16:30 and will be entertaining their guests in the picnic shelter. So this is a heads up that the shelter and the BBQs will be in use at this time.

Sailpast date – June 18

GYC Covid-19 Policy

Ontario proof of vaccine update

As of September 22, the Provincial Proof of Vaccine Mandate came into effect.  This requires some types of businesses and facilities to request proof of vaccination from those entering.  The primary impact on the GYC will be in the running of social events in the clubhouse.

Although no club social events are planned at this time, future club events will require attendees to show proof of vaccination and a photo ID before entering.  Medical exemptions are permitted.

The use of washrooms and Board Meetings are not affected by the proof of vaccine mandate.

Current use of masks and social distancing remains unchanged.  Outside settings do not require masks unless distancing cannot be maintained. Masks for Haul-out crews are therefore required.

Clarification on the use of the covered patio

Currently the covered patio area is considered outdoors under COVID rules, which allows socially distanced groups of up to 25 to gather.  Note, only one of the temporary patio walls may be fitted to this area.

No social events are allowed inside the clubhouse until further notice.  This includes club and unsanctioned gatherings.

Georgian Yacht Club Annual Fishing Derby

There will be a trophy for the largest fish and 1/2 the pot. There will be another prize for most pounds per pole.

Please bring either a salad or dessert for the fish fry.

We regret that the Corn Roast and Commodore’s At Home Dinner are both once again cancelled for the year.

Clubhouse Closure Update

The clubhouse will be closed as of Monday November  23rd, with the exception of upstairs washrooms which will be accessible until the end of December. Please be advised the washrooms are not being professionally cleaned during this time. Use hand sanitizer and wipe down any surfaces you touch to protect yourself and fellow club members. Please follow public health guidelines and stay home if you are unwell.

COVID Update / Patios

Hi Folks, as we enter stage three of this COVID thing your board of directors has decided to fully open up the patios (bbq’s included) and the upstairs of the clubhouse. The downstairs and kitchen will remain closed at this time while we renegotiate our cleaning contract.

Play safe friends!
