July 1 Weekend- Parking

June 28, 2022

IMPORTANT message for this JULY 1 WEEKEND.

 A machine will be trenching

THIS MONDAY JULY 4 and JULY 5 for the installation of the new washroom hookup. Trenching will be from the South Gate, around the west basin and up the hill behind the clubhouse, heading to the yellow slide on the playground.  (The orange paint on the ground, if it survives the rain,  is basically the path)

Cars MUST NOT be left parked around that path on those days.

Please also avoid parking immediately beside the lower NE corner of clubhouse. ( near kitchen door)

Thank-you you for your cooperation. Apologize for any inconvenience this will cause but the project must get finished.

4 volunteers are needed with their shovels to do some finer work to help to keep the costs down.

If you haven’t pitched in this spring on the Property committee, here is your opportunity to do so.  We all need to do our part to keep the costs down.  A number of members have already given of their free time, labour and expertise to the washroom project. Thank you to everyone of you for that commitment.  I know Travis has appreciated each of you.

Please step up to help Mon July 4 and Reach out to Travis at travis@vandolders.com

More news—-

Thank you to Gerald Overmars for  stepping up and repairing the lower clubhouse door which had been malfunctioning for many weeks. Closes like a dream now!

Kevin McDonald has been hand spraying weeds on the property with a safe solution and they can now be  pulled a little easier in front of all our docks. Thank-you for taking a few minutes to help out.

The fuel dock washroom has recently had a facelift, thanks to Johnny Sollazo.

Members have been pitching in and we notice. So Thank-you!

TNT Landscaping was down today for the first cut and it looks great.

The pedestrian-gate at the north entrance has not been working since the spring and the Property director is aware.

If you need to exit or enter on foot from the north end of property, then please use the upper level pedestrian-gate by the garage, until those 2 keypads at the north are replaced. If the electricity goes down, you can always exit out the upper gate and upper pedestrian gate by pushing them open.

A lift truck will be also near the north gate to adjust the yard light that has been reported to be shining at our neighbours in the condominium. The Utility Director had already turned off the winter lights used for security purposes this spring.

Safe summer,

Commodore Becky

On behalf of the Board of Directors.

Fuel Dock and Pump out News

The Board of Directors has regretfully accepted the resignation of Director, Roger Martindill and thank him for his work in preparing the fuel dock and meeting with the Committee on April 30th regarding Safety and Fuel concerns. We wish him a good summer sailing.

The Board would like to announce the appointment of Steve Rouse as a Director. Steve will serve as the new director of Fuel Dock and Safety. Welcome Steve.  We trust that the committee will provide you with full support as we move into our active season.

The Fuel dock will be open for pumping fuel starting Saturday May 14th at 8:00 am.

The pump out will be started up Sat 14th May and available only whenever the Fuel Dock is open until the water pipe is replaced. It is self serve.

Spouses on Committees

It is now possible to include members’ spouses in the lists of those serving on committees.

This means that when directors send out mail to their entire committee, they no longer have to rely on the member passing on the mail to their spouse.

Members:
If your spouse serves on a committee and has their own email address, please login and enter the address in the new profile field “Spouse Email.”
Let Membership or Communications know which committee(s) your spouse is on.
When that’s done, the My GYC / MY PROFILE page will list your committees and those of your spouse so that you can verify it’s all correct.

Directors:
When you use the “Mail to Committee Members” link on your committee’s page, it will include the spouse’s email address. If none has been entered, the email will go to the member’s address.

Note:
Spouses will not receive regular club email and do not become “users” on the website.
