My GYC / My Profile

As a logged in member you can view a summary of all of the data Membership and Mooring have stored on you and your boat. Just navigate to My GYC and click on the My Profile button.
The page has been enhanced to warn you if your insurance is expired or if you have a boat at the club but don’t have the requisite two emergency contacts.

It also lists the committees that you serve on (according to Membership’s records).

You can manage your own contact details, email address, phone numbers, etc.

If anything is missing or incorrect, please contact Membership or Mooring.

There are still a number of dock skirts down, ladders in the water etc. Please make sure you get your dock prepared for winter, and unplug your power cords.

As per our By-Laws

R17.  Fender Skirts must be lifted or adjusted to one foot or higher above the water by the Third Wednesday of November.

R45.  All boats must be unplugged by the Third Wednesday of November or the cord tagged with the date while charging (48 hours maximum per charge).

Rope “Trick”

Sorry if most of you already know this, but it was new to at least a few members.

If you have two mooring lines looped over one bollard or cleat and you lay the second on top of the first, they have to be removed in reverse order. You can’t take off the first one without removing the second.
But, if you feed the second one UNDER the first (see the picture) they can be taken off in any order. Try it! It’s magic.

Two mooring lines using the same bollard

It could be used when two boats  share a bollard. Regardless of the order in which they arrived, they can leave without removing the neighbouring boat’s line.

Full Member Application

There is a new application for full membership (to the “B” list) in the club.  Further to Article 2.2 d) and e) of the Club By-laws, Rules and Regulations notice of an application is to be made on this website and the Clubhouse Bulletin Board for a minimum of 30 days.  Members may communicate to the membership committee (membership@georgianyachtclub.com) or the Board, prior to the May 7th Board meeting any relevant information a Member may possess regarding the applicant.

Ralph Suke of East Linton has been an Associate member for a number of years.  Ralph has a Niagara 26 sailboat.

Racing Calendar Set up. Revised “A” and “B” Lists.

I have entered events on the Members’ calendar for all of this season’s races. The same events (but no meetings and social events) are also on the Public calendar. I understand that this is for security and privacy reasons.

I have also made changes (additions/deletions/corrections) to the “A” and “B” lists as requested by the membership director.

I ask that the responsible directors (and members) please check that everything is OK.

Directors: Please remember that the web site uses a “Content Management System.” The idea is for you to maintain your own content, without the need to involve a webmaster. This will avoid any errors that I might introduce and speed up the process. Of course, I can help out when ever needed.
