Call for Volunteers – GYC Launch & Cradle Moving

Dear GYC Members,

In the hopeful anticipation of being able to launch on Friday, May 21st, we are looking for volunteers.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We need dedicated work crews for launch day, in the same way crews were run last launch and haul out. We need 4 crews of 7-8 people to work 2 shifts. The first shift runs 7:45am-11:30am. The second shift runs 11:30am-end of launch.

Gate volunteers are also needed to register each boat owner 20-30 minutes prior to their boat being launched. Sling stickers will also be available at the gates.

NOTE! If you are NOT able to attend to launch your boat, please contact Mike Forcier You must designate a Full Member to be responsible for launching your boat on your behalf. If you do not have someone available to take your place please contact Mike.

Cradle moving will take place Saturday May 22nd starting at 9am.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – cradle captain(s) to coordinate with Larry McCartney to safely manage cradle moving, and 4-5 people per work crew, with additional people needed to hook up cradles.

GYC Launch – Rescheduled

Dear GYC Members,

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, launch has been rescheduled to June 5th.

After discussion with our crane company, and consulting local resources, we have determined we are unable to launch in the current COVID-19 restrictions. We have a rescheduled launch to Saturday June 5th, cradle day on Sunday June 6th.

This is dependent on the current restrictions not being extended. We continue to monitor the situation, and are doing our best to get all our boats in the water as soon as possible.

If you have any specific launch questions or requests, please contact Mike Forcier.

We appreciate everyones patience during these irregular times.

Stay-At-Home Restrictions

Dear GYC Members,

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Stay-At-Home Order and increased restrictions, we request that members only access the grounds for essential work and maintenance on your boat. We are continuing to monitor the situation and seeking clarity on what the new guidelines mean for our club.

The clubhouse remains closed, except in case of emergency. A reminder to members that the defibrillator and emergency contact information is located on the upper floor of the clubhouse.

The in-person launch meeting is postponed, and we are reviewing our launch options.

We thank you for your patience while we work through these issues. Please keep an eye out for updates as we learn more information.

In the meantime, be kind to each other and stay safe.

Club Emails

We use a program called MailPoet and its sending service to send mail to our members. Until recently all we had to do was add a new member and they were auto-magically subscribed. But it seems a recent change in MailPoet enforces “Sign-up confirmation” even though our members never sign-up.

This meant that several new members were in the unconfirmed state and weren’t yet receiving emails. I have now triggered (re)send confirmation email. Those new members will have received an email from the site and have to reply.

A reminder: All logged on members can view emails they may have missed by going to Members -> GYC Docs -> Archived Emails

2021 and YOU – Call for GYC Volunteers!

Dear GYC Members,

With the 2021 season approaching it’s time for you to come out and help your club! There are many projects planned for this season.

Don’t think you have the skills? We have a variety of work to do, so talk to your board of directors and we’ll help match your abilities with a project.

Don’t think you have the time? Not all jobs happen on weekends! Many of us volunteer during the week or in the evenings, whenever we get a spare moment.

All members are encourage to volunteer, this includes associate members! Volunteering is a great way to get to meet your fellow club members, contribute to the GYC boating community, and get a sense of value from being a GYC member.

This club us run by us, for us, and the only way it can continue is if YOU come out to help.
