Dragonfly Going Into Hibernation
Extending Bow and Stern Lines
On launch day this spring an unfortunate bow line handler ended up in the cold water when a knot separated!
The best knot for tying two lines together, especially if they are of different thickness, is the sheet bend.
In the picture above the blue line is the thicker of the two.
If there is a big difference in thickness the double sheet bend should be used.

Commodore at Home Dinner 2017 (the GYC Clubhouse)
This is a free event for GYC Members (including immediate family members ).
Members need to RSVP by the deadline of Monday September 25th, 2017 so that the Caterers can prepare a sufficient amount of food and manage the club’s cost as best as possible.
When you arrive please check-in at the downstairs entrance. Those that have asked for the Vegetarian meal will receive a ticket for your meal.
Note; Seating is limited so RSVP ASAP; for sure by the deadline of September 25.
Date: Saturday, September 30, 2017: Happy Hour at 6pm, Dinner at 7pm.
Catering by Caterpro
Menu: Roast beef dinner or Vegetarian alternative.
Please specify if you want the vegetarian meal when you RSVP.

Skippers’ meeting at 12:30, start at 13:30
Annual GYC Fishing Derby Sept 15
All Members Welcome – It’s time to show off your fishing skills….On September 15 and 16, 2017. The entry fee is $10.00 a person.
You can start fishing as early as you would like to on Friday night but the official weigh in starts at 8:00 pm and on Saturday at 11:00 am at the gas dock. All fish must be weighed by noon on Saturday.
All fish caught will be donated for the Fish Fry starting at 4:00 pm on Saturday (only Salmon or Trout accepted for the fish fry).
There will be a trophy for the largest fish and 1/2 the pot.
There will be another prize for most pounds per pole
Please bring either a salad or dessert to the fish fry.

Harbour Nights Concert, Sunday August 13
Mike Forcier and Chris Collard suggested that we tie up at the harbour wall and listen to next Sunday’s concert. The concert starts at 19h00, but we could get there a little earlier and have a potluck.
